If you’re traveling a distance, to see a specific painting, contact the museum before to find out if the work-of-art will be there. The painting may be out on loan, or the museum may be under reconstruction, and the painting is temporarily in storage. As your departure date nears, read recent visitors’ candid online comments to avoid disappointment.

Some museums are open seven days, others a time period one day in the week, or one day in the month; when the museum is free to the public. An evening may fit into your itinerary. Many museums have begun to offer free general admission to view their collection, but charge for exhibitions. Different admission policies apply for children and Seniors. In high season, to bypass lines, purchasing tickets or passes from your hotel is probably least expensive. A reputable Online source is another option.

Brooklyn Museum of Art, Brooklyn, New York

Bunkamura Museum, Tokyo, Japan

Bunkamura is focused on creating the future through interaction with various cultures. The museum is a venue for concerts, theatre, and exhibits located in the Shibuya neighborhood. Frick Collection, New York, New York

Frida Kahlo Museum, Mexico City, Mexico

This vibrant, lively space was once Frida’s home. Frida suffers polio in childhood, Unfortunately, one limb withers. To further complicate her life, a dreadful accident occurs while she’s riding on a street car. Numerous operations leave scars you see depicted in Frida’s self-portraits. Center Pompidou/ The French National Museum of Modern Art, Paris, France

The museum’s most important modern and contemporary collections from around the world are situated on the 4th and 5th Floors. Alexander Calder’s, Horizontal, sculpture, which measures approximately twenty-five feet (1974 ©Calder Foundation) is permanently attached to the outside of the building’s astonishing architecture. Musée des Beaux-Arts de Montreal/ The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Canada

This is Canada’s oldest and largest museum. It was expanded several times and is now home to a large permanent collection spread over several pavilions. Appreciate its fascinating history in the Jean-Noel-Desmarais Pavilion. IMAGE. And, don’t miss the Michal and Renata Hornstein Pavilion. IMAGE.

Museo Nacional del Prado, Madrid, Spain

The Prado is famous for its assortment of masterpieces from Spanish artists such as Goya, Velasquez, Murillo, and El Greco. Prado has one of the largest, most impressive collections in the world. IMAGE. VIDEO. COLLECTION.

National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C. USA

NGA is one of the top 10 museums worldwide, endowed by Congress, and founded by Andrew Mellon. Admission is free. There is an east and west building with a sculpture garden surrounding a large fountain. A café is available for a bite to eat. Picasso has a room of his own in the East building. National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, Australia

The Gallery is committed to presenting the national collection of art, together with exhibitions, education and public programs, and to providing facilities which meet visitors’ expectations, particularly for those visitors with special needs. Norman Rockwell Museum, Stockbridge, Massachusetts

The exclusive Collection of Illustrations of Americana, as well as the current exhibits, feature the original artwork of Norman Rockwell. This is the most significant public collection of Norman Rockwell’s work in the world. The 1930s and the 1940s are considered his most fruitful of his long career. Salvador Dali Theatre-Museum, Figueres, Spain
